THE HOME MISSION FESTIVAL

Preparations for the Home Mission Festival are now well under weigh, and there is every prospect of the present one proving a greater success than the last. All the tables have been allotted and balloted for. Arrangements ha-\e been made for decorating the Hall, and it wild present quite a gay and cheerful appearance with the flags and evergreens around the- walls and floating from the ceiling. It is hoped ttut, the experience of the past will make the event go more smoothly on the present occasion, although there was Little to complain of then. Meetings of both men's and women's committees have been held frequently, and all are working heartily to ensure success. On Sunday the Bishop delivered powerful, and impressive sermons, showing the gre-at need of assistance to those living in the remote districts of the Diocese, and will do so again next Sunday. Tickets are going off rapidly, and it is confidently expected that there will be a very large gathering. News from "West-port shows that notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather, the Hall was closely packed, and as Nelson is the most populous Archdeaconry in the Diocese, the result should- he greater. Arrangements have been mar'e with the railway authorities and the Anchor Line, by which those from the corntrv will be able to return by train at 10.30, and -by the Ko: at 11 o'clock. Tickets may be obtained from Messrs Jackson and Co., Hounsell and Co., A. Robinson, and Miss Cook.
