POSSIBILITY OF RAID IN PAST YEARS. ; SIR JOSEPH WARD AND PEACE COUNCIL. (United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. A large deputation from the National Peace Council ' waited on Sir Joseph Ward tliis morning and ./placed before him objections to the Defence Act and reasons. Sir Joseph Ward, in reply, said that the scheme was not conscription, as the operations were limited. He agreed with them in regai'd to having peace, but it must not be forgotten that -there was danger. He would not give away confidence, but in past years there had beer a possioiiity of a raid on New Zealand.
