ST RIKE RIOTS IN COLORADO

DESPATCH OF FEDERAL TROOPS. VIOLENCE INCREASING. WASHINGTON, April 28. Cabinet has ordered the despatch of Federal troops to suppress disorders in Colorado. Violence is increasing. Strikers and militia had another fight, in which eight were killed. The miners are encamped on the heights overlooking the mines, and shot down non-strik-ers and militia men. Outrages, including the burning of mine workings and buildings, continue. SEVERE FIGHTING. NEW YORK, April 29. Fighting at Boulder, Colorado, resulted in another death, and many were wounded around the neighbourhood. Women and children took refuge within the Hecla mine enclosure, and remained there the whole day. lying on tho ilonr in ordsr to avoid the bullets which were poured into the mine. Strikers are entrenched on every hill, preparing,for the arrival of State troops. Tho citizens have organised a volunteer force to' endeavour to dislodge the. strikers. Mr .1. 1). The arrestees include Upton Sinclair and h's wife and children, and Elizabeth Fr iman, an English suffragette. Socialists, had arranged to parade the offices wearing signs of mourning, when (he police intervened. Seven were killed when the strikers attacked the mines in the neighbourhood of Forbes. The mine buildings were burned, and two charred bodies Itavo been found.,
