HORTICULTURAL SHOWS

IWOTUEKA. [ The autumn show of the Motueka ■Society was held yesterday, ami as usual, it proved a- very popular holiday attraction. The exhibits, though irot as large as usual, were of a quality not hitherto seen, and were the subject of much favourable comment. As was onlj to be expected, special interest was centred in the apple section, and the competition was keen, some splendid specimens of the fruit being shown. It is stated that the selection of applet was the best seen in the district so far. Muuro's Favourite were very conspicuous. The flowers were very .satisfactory considering the season. Tin dahlias were particularly line, Mi Wigzell, of Nelson, and Messrs Canavai and Bo.yes being the principal exhibitors The Retailers' Association's Cup foi , pears was not awarded, as the exhibit- j were considered too large.
