McGillivrav provided the afternoon tea. -., , ' WAKEFIELD FEATHERS. TAKAKA V. MAITAI. The holders of the Feathers, Dee Bros., of the Maitai Club, were challenged by Haldane Bros., of the Takaka Club, "and a keen contest eventuated, the holders being defeated: by 28 to 14. The rinks were : Alex. Haldane, John Haldane, James Haldane, and Thomas Haldane (s) ; and A. Dee, T. Dee, G. Dee, and W .Dee (s). VALEDICTORY. At the conclusion of the tournament •the visitors and members of both chibs met on the Nelson bowling green, ■where the usual valedictory speeches ■were made. Mr Geo. Hogg, president of the Nelson Club, in a few appropriate remarks, made a presentation to Mr Yv. H. Phillips, as the most distinguished player of the tournament. The occasion was one for much good humour, and the . recipient suitably acknowledged the honour. Mr Mills, president of the Blenheim Bowling Club, expressed, on behalf of the visitors, appreciation with the manner the tournament had been conducted, and the arrangements made for the visiting "bowlers. He said that it had been customary to present each club ■with a framed photograph group of the players, but this year, in addition to remembering the caretakers, they had decided to present the local secretaries (Mr R. "W. Stiles and Mr S: F. Sherwood) with suitably engraved fountain pens to mark the excellent work they had performed. (Applause). Ca-ntain McArthur and- 'Messrs Kinniburgh and Grover also spoke in a similar strain. Messrs Stiles and Sherwood briefly responded. The gathering broke up with cheers, TOURNAMENT AT NAPIER.
