Hugh Dalrym'ple, anex-convict, proceeded against Baroness von Goetz, a wealthy philanthropist, arid organiser of a farm for discharged prisoners. Dalrymple alleged that he loaned ,the Baroness moneyl He produced scores of the Baroness's letters containing statements of a- sensational nature. In cross-examination counsel P r ?ved that Dalrymple was convicted of frauds on women in 1896. In order to explain discrepancies in letters, JDalrymple allegr ed that his twin brother was responsible. Dalrymple's counsel threw up his brief. > -, • A verdict was returned for defendant.
