THEATRE MUSICIANS' TROUBLE Received 11.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The indications are for an early settlement in the theatre musicians' trouble by the granting of the demands. Several Melbourne proprietors have conceeded to the demand for the payment of 10s for.every performance, including matinees. MASTERS' AND OFFICERS' CLAIMS. WELLINGTON, Jan. 7. The dispute between the Merchant Service Guild and ! the shipowners of Wellington, other than the Union Company, have been set down for hearing by the Conciliation Council on the 14th January. One dispute is between the master mariners and the owners. The Guild asks for the following wages on steamers:—Where only one mate is carried, £2B per month; where two mates are carried, £25 per month;.and where the master receives instructions to keep a sea watch on vessels where mates 1 are carried he shall be paid overtime at ( the rate of 3s 6d~ per hour during such time as he is on watch. . Holidays: Twenty-one days on full pay for each complete twelve months; such holidays to be allowed to accumulate, but not beyond three years, and if a master is discharged for any reason other than misconduct he shall receive pay in full in lieu of the holiday leave due to him. ' When ideals are not provided there shall be an allowance of 10s per day. A master calle4 upon to change his home port shall be given a free firstclass "assage for his family, and _ free carriage for his .effects. If incapacitated by illness a master shall receive full pay, and a victualling allowance. ' The assessors nominated to act for the Guild -at the Conciliation Court are ; Captains A. J. Dowell, J. B. Corby, ' and D. J.
