Miss Crompton, one of the victims of the Liverpool shooting tragedy, "V.as mid die-aged and possessed of considerable wealth. McDonald, who, shot'her, apparently was jealous ,of 'her - ' interest in Gaze. The latter's 18-yeari-old Portuguese bride was staying at Miis Crompton's house at the time of the 1 tragedy. The, tenets of the Church of Humanity sect ordain that a man' and his wife, after the civil rites of marriage, must take a vow of chastity for three - months. If their tempers prove compatible, the church ratifies the marriage., Gazes three months' .probation had almost ended.
