-• (Received 9 a.m.) HOB ART, This Day. The Crown entered a nolle prosequi on the charge against Daniel Jones- of murdering William Mullins. The circumstances connecting Jones with the murder were mere suspicions, and the Chief Justice ruled that they were not enough to commit. The oniy connecting link between Jones, and the crime was certain horse and shoe prints in the vicinity of the fire, which it was said resembled the shoe of a horse owned by Jones and a boot worn by Jones. . (The remains, of William Mullins, .a farmer .at Mathinna, were- found inthe debris, of a fire. Bad feeling had existed, in the district for years past among certain parties,; .politics being one element therein. . Sear.chers discovered the debris of a huge firein a depression on the hillside containing human bones and teeth, a staple used for straps, and a quantity of melted . lead'. The theory was that Mullins, when examining opossum traps, -was shot by some person lying i in wait, that the body was thrown across a horse and carried two miles to the spot where a pyre had been prepared.) - -
