Mr. W. Lock leaves for Wellington during the week to att-end. the Conference of the Boards of Advice.
Rev. F. W. Chatterton. of Gisbome, who has been spending a holiday in Nelson, left 'by the Pateena this morning.
Messrs fa. A. Harkness and A. Crawford, Inspectors under she ISelaon Education Board, left for Wellington by, iihis morning's steamer to attend the annual conference of Inspectors of Schools commencing on Thursday.
A very creditable performance has been achieved by Gordon Cooke, who is at present in the employ of E. Buxton and Co., Ltd. His many friends -will bepleased to learn that he has been successful, at the age of years, in pa-ssing the following examinations in accountancy : Book-keeping and accounts (elementary), auditing (elementary), rights and duties of trustees (elementary), and has also gained a certificate of proficiency iu practical mercantile book-keeping. ,
Mr Leslie Reynolds, who has been appointed Consulting Engineer to the Nelson Harbour Board, arrived in Nelson this morning, and was to meet members of the Board for an informal talk this afternoon. Mr Reynolds desires to thank the people of Nelson for appointing him Consulting Engineer here again. No work in which he is engaged would give him greater pleasure to see satisfactorily accomplished, he states, than the Nelson Harb'oui' works.
