RULES AND REGULATIONS. 1. Definition of a Hack —Hack means a horse that has not at time of nomination won a race of the value of 100 sovs to the winner, or of the aggregate value of 250 sovs to the winner. - 2. All protests must be accompanied by a ; deposit of £2, which shall be forfeited should the Stewards consider, the protest frivolous or vexatious. Provided that in the Trotting Races the Deposit must be £5, which shall be forfeited if such protest be not sustained. 3. All nominations close at. the secretary's office, Nelson, on Friday, /tn February, at 9 p.m. . 4. Nominations must be made in writing, addressed "Secretary, Jockey UuJd, Nelson," and if by telegram, must to confirmed by letter first mail afterwards, and to be accompanied by the necessary fees, also name, age, colour sex, and pedigree of the horse, and colours to be worn by rider or driver. Any owner neglecting to furnish this information at the time of nomination will be fined i-o. 5 The flat races will be run under the rules of the New Zealand Rules of Racing. The Trotting events will be run under the Runis of the New Zealand Trotting Association. 6 The winner of any race after tlie declaration of weights may bo re-handi-capped. 7. Rule 172, Rules of Trotting : —By the entry of, or endeavouring to enter, a horse, every person having, or subsequently acquiring any interest in such horse shall be deemed to accept all the conditions and restrictions imposed or implied by these rules, and to be barred from questioning the action or conduct of the club holding a sports meeting, or of any official of the club, or such other body in respect of such horse,, or of any person connected therewith, otherwise that is provided for in Part XXX. 8 Owners of Trotters must give with nomination the last three performances, and also the best winning, time the horse has ever made. 9. The names of the trainer nnd owner, or owners, must be included in all acceptance forms when acceptances are sent in, in default of which the owner, or trainer, may be fined a sum not exceeding £5, f.r disqualified. 10. totalisator will pay out on first and second horses in everv event in which =:;■: cr mere horses start. 11.
