The twentieth annual conference of the New Zealand Primitive Methodists opened to-day, and it is the last to be - held before the upion with the Wesleyan Methodist Church is consummated- The Hon' CM. Luke-was elected President, - arid Mr C. E. Ward Vice-President. - When Mr Luke was 1 being welcomed, the 'outgoing. President indicated that Mr. Luke, would probably be elected the first Vice-President of the United Conference. .The-report-on church membership showed:—Taranakd, 378; Wellington 679; Auckland 660 : Otago and Southland 887; Canterbury 734; total 3356. At- Inglewood practical coalescence with the Methodist Church had been brought about; and at Waihi, the . Church having suffered a decrease -' through industrial trouble, members now attended the Methodist Church.
