The Chamber of Commerce has received a communication froir. a leading city firm, asking for accurate information' as to the effect a war would have upon the commercial -relations. ■ F v or instance,' in, the, event of our country being ait war. what likelihood there was of an Act of Parliament being passed, to suspend all j rcaturingr ibiils, and the accruing of interest ; also in what way the importers of 1 English and. Continental goods would probably be affected. The letter added that the information was required so that the firm, could write and instruct their English agents how to act. The Chamber was unanimously of opinion that the letter opened up a big question—too big for the Chamber to deal with.. It was decided to reply that the Chamber was of opinion that the, matter was one'between firms and.their.agents.
