The Mapourika arrived froac the West Cbast this morning, and sailed at 9.10 for Wellington direct. The Pateena arrived from Picton and Wellington this morning, and sailed at 9.50 on the return trip.' The Wairoa sails for Golden Bay at 2'p.m. to-morrow. The Hina sails for Golden Bay at 2.30 p.m. on Monday.

ARRIVAL OF THE BIRKENFELS • FROM NEW YORK. The German steairer Birkenfels (under charter to the TJ.S. and A.S. Company) arrived from New York via way ports this mornine. and was berthed at the Railwav Wharf about 9.20. ..' The Birkenfels left New York on August 18, and arrived at Capetown on September 12. After coaling the voyage was resumed on the following <jay, Melbourne being reached on October 18, after an uneventful vovage. Several hundred tons of cargo were" landed there, and also at v. Sydney, after which the Birkenfels caire on to* Auckland, arriving there on Oo tober 31. Sne left for Wellington on Mondav afternoon last, reaching there on Wednesday night; left yesterday afternoon, and arrived at the outer anchorage early this morning. Captain Felix Black of Wellington, is acting as coastal pilot. The Birkenfels is the second steamer to visit Nelson from New York. She is owned 'by the Hansa Line, of Bremen, and is in command of Captain von Frenden. The Birkenfels is the first merchant steairer to visit Nelson fitted "with wireless telegraphy. She brought 186 tons of cargo for this port. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., are her agents. The Birkenfels sails for Lyttelton and Dunedfn to-morrow morning.
