SESSION CLOSES
VERY ORDINARY WIT
REPORTERS AND LONG HOURS
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
WELLINGTON, This Day
The mock Parliament to-night was a little better than the feeble efforts at wit and humour of the last few years, but it did not rise to a high level. The main principle of the farce was a carefully prepared and printed Bill dealing with Maori bugs and other things not necessary to particularise, and this was gone through clause by clause, while Mr. G. J. Anderson occupied the chair and Mr. Sykes (Masterton) acted as Sergeant-at-Anrs.
The venerable Mr. J. Colvin, described as Professor Dowie by Mr. Wilford, acted as "Hansard" reporter, what time he puffed a, fat cigar. On the whole 'he humour introduced was not of a high class, and it was a relief when the Bill was tackled for the last time. Nobody is Trore pleased than the Press reporter?, who were at work continuously from 10 a.m. on Wednesday till midnight on Thursday.
