SIEGE OF ADRIANOPLE

BULGARIANS RESERVING THEIR

FIRE

CONSTANTINOPLE, Nov. 7.

The Turkish forts round Adrianople cannonade at intervals; but otherwise to the watchers outside Adrianople might be a deserted city. From the mosques' m'inarets the Turks direct the gunfire, endeavouring to locate the Bulgarian encampments hidden in the hills; but the shells fall harmlessly. The Bulgarians will strictly reserve their fife until the hour appointed for the general assault. Many of the wounded have been lying on the plains since the last combat at Marasch, and nobody can succour them. The Bulgarian Red Cross service is fired at every time it attempts to effect their rescue.

A well-known Sofia doctor was killed while assisting wounded Turks. There have been many skirmishes along the battle front . Rain has converted the surrounding country into a quagmire. The Turks murdered Colonel von Iveit, a German, during the retreat from Kirk Kilise.
