The Auckland Rugby Union approved of the suggestion that the English Rugby Union be asked to authori?e amendments to the. rules from time to time, necessary in the interests of the game in New Zealand, with-a proviso disapproving ot alterations in the rules with regard to tl.e word "professionalism." A proposed amendment of rule 48 was regarded w<Mi some suspicion as prepai-ing the way .or cutting Che painter: but it was approved' when safeguarded by a qualification in resrard to professionalism.
