RICNMOND FLOWER SHOW

A FINE DISPLAY. The Richmond "Spring Flower Show opened yesterday in the Oddfellows' Hall, when a large number of exhibits were staged. The Mayor (Mr. Jas. Hunt) formally opened the show and congratulated the committee on their efforts, and expressed the hope that the weather would not affect the attendance. " A:-r usual at this show, the roses were a prominent .feature, and mainy of_ the blooms were magnificent, and collectively the exhibits made a splendid display. The 'best rose in it'he show was a Mrs. David . AlcKee, grown, by Mr. W. E. Wilkes. The display of sweet peas was also, very conspicuous, and the exhibits were a. great improvement on previous years, .both in point of 'numbers and also in quality. The other classes for cut flowers and also the decorative and vegetable classes ;were iwell tilled. The various stalls in connection with the show were attractively arranged and seemed to do good* business. The show was open this afternoon, and remains open this evenimr. The stalls and their supervisors were as follows : Sweets Sta.ll : Afesdjames Hunt, and Hammond. Work Stall : eAlsdames Moles worth and E. J. Thomas, and Miss Talbot. Girls' Club and Produce : Mrs. Boyce and Miss Talbot. The afternoon tea room was ably supervised by Mrs. G. Cooke. The prize list is as follows: POT PLANTS. (Judge : Mr. S. F. Bolton).
