ALLEGED SHEEP STEALING.

ARREST OF MAORIS.

DANNEVIRKE, Aug. 28.

Two Maoris, named Huake Hohepa and Reuben Puha, were arrested at Pakautalii by Constable McLepd at djiwn on Sunday on charges c.f-sheep stealing. The scene of the depredations is in a lonely part of the gorge of the Makaretu river, and some interesting facts are likely to be disclosed. The accused appeared before the Court at Ormondville on Monday ,and were remanded till September 2nd, bail being granted in £SO, and one surety of £SO each.
