RICHMOND BOROUGH COUNCIL. ' (Frcm Our Own Correspondent.) .The monthly meeting of the Richmond Borough Council was held on Tuesday, the 9th inst. Present: The -Mayor (LYir Jas. Hunt) in the chair, Crs. .Coleman, iaolland. Hart, Henman, Oroucher, and Chisnall. _ , The minutes of the previous meeting were read and, confirmed. Cr Croucher said he would have to oppose tho motion. He moved as an amendment, that Mr Ellis's request be not granted until such time as the Council are in possession of a detailed plan.— Cr Heraman seconded the amendment, which on being put wae lost on the casting vote of the Mayor.—The motion was then put and carried. Letters were received from Court Sherwood Forest and' Court Robin Hood, offering to renew the Rocks Road hind debentures, on certain termsir-Thesc were held over pending the receipt' of a n answer from other debenture holders. Adams and Harley wrote on behalf of Mr Wm. Heslop. to sell, tho Council a strip of land above the reservoir, 15 chains- by three chains, for the sum of £IOO, the Council to pay for survey, fencing, etc.—lt was-resolved on the motion of Cr 'Coleman and Croucher, that consideration of the offer be deferred, and that the Council visit the ground, take measurements, and ascertain whether this particular piece of land will suit the borougks pur-; poses. ..'■•' . Mr F. Andrews applied to -have- a water service put on to his property, part of sec. 70 Hill-street.—lt was resolved that the application be granted on the usual terms. Mr G. Kidd also applied for a-water service to lot 42 Edward-street.— Application granted. . ; ■ ,■' . •Mr E. Robinson wrote. m reference to hie application for ; a water service to his property on Lower Queen-street, declining to-pay any portion of the cost of the extension, which had been already, made before he applied.—A good deal of discussion ensued as to the legal aspects of the case, and it was ultimately resolved that the 'Clerk etate the" case to Mr T. F. Martin, solicitor to the Municipal - Association, and obtain Jus opinion as to the Council's position. Mr A,'' Chambers [wrote in reference to installing Dreadnought gas in Richmond, and stating his readmese to come and give the Council all information in regard to the same.—To 'be m, formed that the Council are at present considering a scheme for lighting w:tn electricity and cannot, at present, entertain an v. other proposals. . The paling fence on _ the top side of the dam has been strained by the recent flood, and will heed strengthening. . The residents at Henley are now being supplied with water from the new mains, and as soon as measurements are taken the usual charges to new applicants should be made for one-third of the cost of an inch pipe between the sections. Concrete blocks should be put round the fire-plugs -at Henley as soon as the line has become solid. :ng the month the water had been laid on to Mrs Rcse's property, sec. 81, Salis-bury-Toad.
