THE RAID ON CHINESE.
THIRTY DEFENDANTS BEFORE THE COURT. {United PiiEss Association.) AUCKLAND, May 20. At the Police Court to-day thirtyeight Chinese made their appearance as the result of a recent raid by the police. Ting Hing, charged with being the occupier of the premises used as a common gaming house, was remanded oil bail. Jim Wong and Ah Lee were also adjudged principals, inasmuch as they assisted in the management of the premises. The latter, who is only a new arrival, whilst the charge against Jiir Wong was reduced to one of being found in a common gaming house. He was fined £l. The remaining 35 were with being found in a common gaming house, and were each fined £l.
