MURCHISON MATTERS
Murchison" settlers are making use of the railwav extensions to journey to Nelson in a day. T'he- drive from Murchi.-. son to Glenhope can be very comfortably done in five hours, and the ballast train for Kiwi ia caught at 1 p.m. Cr. Badcodk., of the Murchison County Council, who represented Murchison at the' meeting of members of local bodies held here to-day. came through in this manner yesterday. It is to be hoped the Government will grant the aplicatioir of the Matiri setlers for telephonic communication with Murchison. At present there are some 1# farmers in that district, several miles along a particularly bad road from Murchison, and in capes of sickness or accident a crreat deal of time is jwasted before medical .aid can be obtained. It is impossble to ride a horse alonrr portions of the road at nisht.. The settlers most certainly deserve aH the assistance th.it the department is able to give them.
