RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL.

Before the business was commenced at the special meeting o? the City, Council last night the Mayor hidved : "That this Council expresses ils" profound sorrow aiid regret at the terrible international disaster which has befallen the Mother Country and the United States of America by the wreck of the White Star liner Titanic, with its appalling loss of life, and also expresses its deepest sympathy with the relatives of the unfortunate passengers and crew of the illfated vessel." That a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Hon. the Prime Minister. The motion was seconded by Councillor Hampson, and carried in silence, the members standing.
