LONDON, April 18. Owing to increasing uneasiness at the enormous growth of expenditure, the House of Commbns, at Mr Lloyd George's initiative, appointed a select committee to examine the estimates.
Mr Lloyd George explained that the House had ceased to exercise control over expenditure, except in'respect of defence.
