ADDINGTONLIVE STOCK .MARKET SM ALL ATTENDANCE AND DULL SALE. CHRISTCHURCH. April IQ. There wa.s a denuded hoi way tnjne about the Addington stock yard.; to-da\, for the entry was generally be.ow the sile of the previous week:. Apparently the counter attractions had had an e: feet upon the patrons of the sale, a.so. for the attendance was smaller than usual, though the weather may have had something to do with this matter. Store sheep were in much sma.l supply than at previous markets. The cattle pens suffered to some extc-nt. ana the demand for fat beasts was very slack, though prices appeared to hc.d up cn the sales effected. Store sheeD : There was a much emitter yarding of this class of sheep in the pens. The bulk of the entry cons'steu of ewes of. a medium class g-sne rally, and there were a. good number cf Chatham Island and oversea sheep. The demand was about on a par with that displayed at the previous sale, and thero ■was a" o-ocd number of passings. Good class ewes, two-tooth to sound mouth, brought satisfactory prices, and the vreakness was exhibited in th<; bidding for aged and low conditioned sorts. Good two-tooth crossbreds and threequarter bred ewes brought 15s to 16s 3d; sound mouth lis 6d to 14s; fourtooth 14s to 16s; six and eight-tooth 12s to 13s 6d ; four, six and eight-tootn 12s to 16s; good sound mouth ewe s 12s 5d to 14s: inferior 8s to 9s 6d ; full and failing mouth 7s 9d to 8s 9d ; and aged 4s 6d°to 6s 2d. Forward lambs were in short supply, and in good demand, anu fetched 12s 6d to 13s (d for the bast sorts. Fair lambs made 10s 6d to 11# fd, others 6s. culis to 9s. YVehers sold We'll at late rates, two-tooths making 12s to 13s 6d ; four and six-tooth to 14:, 6d. Fat lambs: There was a slights larger entry of fat lambs as compare*; with last week, the figures being 7778 aa against 7508. The entry was an uneven one which included a wide range ol quality. There was, however, a gooo pioporticn of really well finished lambs, and exporters operated fieeiy at timet, at prices about cn a par with last week. There was a very hopeful tone in the .market, and it is" e'ertain that the price of the second grade and lighter stul. hardened at least 3d per head, and r higher estimate places it at fed. whicl. probably a b;t beyond the mark. Til" sale was a very in and out one. taking it all through, opening will, thei. slackening off badly. and brightening again at the close. ' The range of pricei was: Tegs 17s 3d to 19s lid ; ordinary freezers 12s 6d to 18s. Graziers took other lines at prices from 10s 6d "up war-ds.

There .was a rather smaller yarding of fat eheep, and all classes were rep resented. The market opened in a sat Jsfactory manner at values comparable, with late rates. The range of price.' was : Prime wethers 18s to 21s 9d, others 15s to 17s 9d; prime twos 12s it 17 s 3d. extra to 19s; others 8s 9d tr 12s 6d ; Merino wethers 17s Id to 19s Id. Fat cattle : The yarding of fat eattk was a moderate one, totalling 185 h-sac as against 244 yarded last week. Thi offerings were of a medium quality only, a. few° better class lots being noticed here and there. W-hen the sale opened the demand was very uneven, and a considerable number of passings were made but in spite of this the values showed little difference from those cf the previous sale. Beef ranged from 21s to 26s for lOOlbs.. according to quality. Steers fetched £7 10s to £l3 17s 6d ; heifers £5 10s to £9 2s 6d ; and dry cows £5 6s to £lO 10s. Vealers: There was an average number of fat calves penned, and the demand ■was unchanged, ranging frcm 6s to £2 135,. extra to £3 12s. Store cattle: Only 24 head of store cattle were yarded, and the demand was very weak ind°ed. Cows made £1 tc £4 10s. Pigs : There was only a small number of store pigs penned, no large ones being among the number. The sale was fairly keen, medium sorts making 303 to 365, smaller 22s to 28s. and very smai: 14s to 17s. Weaners realised 12s fed tc 16s, and were in somewhat better demand. The entry of fat p'.gs was below the average, but the demand for all classes was fair, baconers meeting with a little better enquiry.
