BIG LOSS AT IPSWICH. DAMAGE TOTALS £200,000. (Press Association. —Copyright.) LONDON, April 8. A fire at Ipswich commenced in a bidding factory in Princess-street, and raged for 20 hours. It destroyed an hotel and a jeweller's premises, the damage amounting to £200,000. HISTORIC CASTLE DAMAGED. LONDON, April 8. The historic Gibbstown -Castle at Mealh was partially burnt down, damage to the extent of £40,000 being sustained. STORE BURNT DOWN. PERTH, April 8. V fire destroyed Montgomery's drapery store at Kalgoorlie. The damage, totalling £6OO. is covered by insurance. A SAWMILL DESTROYED. AUCKLAND, April 8. News has been received that the Noithcrn Timber Company s mill at Taupiii was burned to the ground oil Sunday morning. A bucket brigade was formed, but it "could not- suppress the outbreakThe papers and safes were saved. It is believed that the insurance amounted to about £IOOO, but the loss should exceed this amount. About 70 men will be thrown out of work.
