CANADA AND DEFENCE.
THE NEW GOVERNMENT'S POLICY. (Press Association. —Copyright.) OTTAWA, April 7. The "Quebec Chronicle" states that it has been decided to treat naval defence on non-party lines. Tenders will unmediatelv be called for two superDreadnought cruisers. and meanwhile Canada will represent to Britain tiiat the Dominion's naval autonomy is issential. and representation is imperative. This can be met only by the creation of an Imperial squadron to which Britain and the Dominions should contribute, to be controlled by a special Admiralty Board, on which the contributors would be represented. The "Chronicle" points out that Canada's interests as a nation demand that she, in a similar way to America and the South American States, should be able to show a flag in naval visits, which would \Aay aw important part in improving her trade relations with other Canadian manned ships should protect her interests throughout the wor\d.
