The formation work on the .Midland railway is at present almost completed to nearly opposite the Glacier Hotel atthe Rcaiey. and is well in hand from that point up the Bealev River (states a Christchurch paper). Ballasting operations are about to bo commenced from a. pit in the vicinity of Douglas Creek, the idea being to hastr-n the opening of the line for traffic as far as the Bealey as soon as possible. Pile-driving for the bridge over the Beaky River will be commenced shortly, but the girders will not be manufactured for some time yet. It's fair to yourself—fair to your tongue—to trv a pipe or two of MILD DERBY PLUG. Smoke it fast—red hot—it remains true to the last. There s no sting in it —try a plug.* (14.)
