The' '■following ad-chtional work was transacted at the meeting of the YVai. mea County Council yesterday afternooj), after we went to pre.=G : The hon. secretary of the Stoke Progressive Association v. - rote stilting that the price asked for bv -Mr J. Taylor for land at the head of Poor Man's Valley was £530, and suggesting that the land should he' obtained for a waterworks ro:erve. Also notifying that the Public Cemetery at Stoke would be closed shortly, and atking the Council to take such action as deemed fit.—To be informed that the Council does not know the extent -of its powers in reference to the first question, and asking the Association to Formulate a scheme for the Council's consideration. In regard to the Cemetery, the Council to make inquiries. From Mr R. T. Sadd, Commissioner of Crown Lands, asking the Council to attend to certain matters in connection with work done on the road through the Wangapeka Settlement. —Engineer to report. The Commissioner also requested the Council to attend to dram along the side of C. Gray's property at Wangapeka.—Settlement left to Engineer. From Mr S. L. Moffatt. ' Tadmor. drawins the Council's attention to state of Orchard Creek road, leadinil to hvs own and Mr Ciainsfor-d s property. The Overseer to have two or three days work done.

Fairhail-road. —-Resolved that the Council pay half-cost, the total expenditure not to exceed £ls. From Mr Geo. Van Bell, manager Blue Cret-k Development Co., requesting for refund ot money spent on the Rolling River Track at Wangapeka. —Council cannot see its way to accede to Te quest. l-'rom Messrs Pitt and Moor"-, on behalf of Roeske Bros., applying for withdrawal of permission to erect swing gate granted to Michael Brady at last meeting.—Cr Drummond to report. From Mr H. Tunnicleffe. Dovedalc, asking for permission to run tram lins across road on Sherry Hill.—Granted. From seven settlers of the Pearse Valley requesting that the Government grant' of £3OO for oprning up Nelson lands in that district be expended on a track instead of a cart road. —Left to Engineer to reply. Four resident of Riwaka wrote for permission to erect flood gate at the Middle Bridge on t-lie Stony River; also to block an old culvert between tin* two bridges and open up the old ditch on the West side of the road.—Grantee, subject to work being approved by Engineer. From Mr J- W. Boundy, Returning Officer, Motueka, estimating that the cost of the forthcoming Licensing Committee election would be J3155. —Cr Everett 6ai-d the amount was a considerable reduction on last election.—Cr Cr Hoult was of opinion that more facilities should be afforded the public for recording their votes. —Cr Everett failed to see that the wants of the people had been overlooked in regard to curtailing : the polling booths.—Other Councillors agreed with Cr Everett.— To be acknowledged. From Mr A. H~ Wylds, Motueka. asking for permission to cut awav a hjgh bank near the 6-milo J>eg on tiie Mo-tueka-Takaka road.—Granted. From Mr 1!. B. Witty, Lower Moutere, asking to have a ditch- cleaned out. —Granted. From Mr Arthur Mclvee, Motueka, stating thai ; t>he formation of two sub- . divisional roads at Tasnian jiad been completed. an<j asking the Council to take them oyer. A request was also made that two gaps in the road lo Upper Tasm.in be bridged, and a further extension made. —lingineer to report. From Mr T. P>. Goodall, Secretary Lower .Moutere School Committee, asking that the approaches to the residence be improved.—Cr Hoult moved that the Committee be allowed to carry out work at its own expense.—Cr Howetson moved, and Cr Macmahon seconded, an amendment that permis- ■ sio.u be granted.—The amendment w.io ' lost on the casting vote of the chairman. The motion was then carried. From Messrs F. and D. Edwards, on behalf of .Mrs Blc-chynden, asking that a road at Tophou.se be improved.—Mr J. R. Tomlinsou made a similar request. —Overseer to report. From Mr O- Brougham, Motueka, re payment of account. —Left to Clerk. From Messrs Ha<jen Bros., Spring Grove, asking permission to erect spring gate in Currin s. lane.—Granted. From Mr H. C. Beuke, Neudorf. applying for a slaughtering license. —To be forwarded to Stock Inspector, with a recommendation that it be granted. Cr Everett gave notice of motion that a return be prepared showing the amount paid bv the Council out of the eeneral fund on new roads leading to Tasman. etc. After peveral other matters had been dealt with the Council rose at 4.15 p.m.
