KELSON JOCKEY CLUB.

ANNUAL RACK .MEETING. The committee of the Nelson jockey C!ub met at Mermr's I'ooms yesterday afternoon to discus* matters in connection with the race meeting to be held at Richmond Park on 20th and 21st inst. The president of the club (Mr. E. E. Trask) occupied the chair, and there were also present —Messrs H. Baigent (vice-president). .J. H. Finnov, J. F. Hardev, .1. E. Bartlett, .J. Hagen, C. J. Harley, F. W: Fairey, G. M. Rout, R. Hunter .and F. G. Edwards. Messrs T. Mortimore, H. Nightingale. A. Van de Burgh. P. Moore, and J. Bushby were ekcted members of the Club. Mr. E. E. Harley, of Rangiora. wrote accepting the position of starter; and Mr. H. D. James, of Greymouth. wrote thanking the Club for appointing him totalisator proprietor. Proposals' for the railway timetable for the races wore submitted by the railway manager (Mr. T. Edwards). Several slight alterations were suggested, and the hope was expressed that the. railway manager would be able to accede to the wishes of the Club in this respect. The president was asked to wait on the manager of the Union S.S.'Co. with a request that the Mapourika leaving Wellington on Tuesday before the races call at Picton for the* Marlborough visitors, and that the departure of the Pa teena for Wellington on Thursday- be delayed until the evening. It was resolved to make application to the- Licensing Committee for a- conditional licence for the races. The president and Messrs Rout and Fairey were appointed to wait upon the Mayor and ask him to invite citizens to observe a holiday on the first day (Wednesday). It "was resolved to accept Mrs. Windleborn's offer for the luncheon and tea rooms. It was resolved to invite tenders from the Garrison. Citizens' and Richmond brass bands for th e supply of music on both days. After a number of other matters had been dealt with the committee adjourned until 14th inst.
