SHORTAGE OF LABOUR.
THE SYDNEY COMMISSION. SYDNEY, Tuesday. Before the Labour Shortage Cpmanission a costume manufacturer, referring to the difficulty in securing apprentices, said lie ( would willingly pay five shillings a week above'the award rates through, slack and 1 busy times to keep apprentices. He had to turn customers away owing to the difficulty of getting labour.
Mr Ross, a bottle manufacturer, declared that he would double his trade if 'labour was available. One witness declared' that the real cause of the shortage was through; girls marrying. • ,
