McEachen, 12; Hounsell, 9; Harford, 7; Whiting, 7; Bartlett, 6. Chap pell, 5 : Glover, 1. On September 17th Mr Chappell resigned the secretaryship, and Mr S. .F. .Sherwood was elected in his stead'-, Ma- Glover being appointed' to the vacancy on the committee. In the last annual report it was notified, that Mr TomMin had' been engaged to look after and prepare the green until the opening of the season,.when the committee approached: him with a view to taking up the duties of caretaker, and wexe successful in securing his services, and the club is to 'be heartily: congratulated on the great improvement that the green showed all - through the season. Acting on tbe authority given at last annual meeting, the committee raised a loan from the ißank (kindly guaranteed •by two . members, who in turn are guaranteed; by members of the committee), and had a windmill erected o.n the tS.W. "banks of the green, and it must be apparent to all the members -that the outlay has been fully justified, and been of great help to the caretaker in- keeping the grass ini such good condition. The green has been sown since the season- -closed, and l give® promise to be a-s our worthy caretaker confidently expects—one of the best in the Dominion. The season opened on October Bth, 1910, with the usual game, President v. Vice-President; and closed on May 13th, with a match Treasurer v. Secretary.' The various club competitions have called' forth large entries, and the various events have been well and keenly contested 1 . The entries and results were as follows Senior Championship.—3o _ entries; played in two.sections. Winner, W. Frost (President's trophy); runner-up, J. M. Calder (club trophy). Frost having won this trophy twice in succession, it now becomes his own "property. Mr G. R. Simpson, one of the donors, has intimated that he will be prepared to give another trophy, to be competed 'for by. the members next season.

It is rather a coincidence that on- three occasions W. H. Simpson has- been run-ner-up for this trophy, and.' in- each ease has only -beens beaten by one point. Kerr Buckles. —Saturday -competition : 6 rinks entered. W. Dee's rink (con-

sisting of F. Harford', M. Levenstcm, A. and W. Dee), being the winners with eight wins (club -trophies). Harfprd Feathers. —Wednesday Competition, 6 rinks entered, J. On Novemfber 9th a pairs tournament., with a time limit, was played for troShies presented by Messrs W. and A. lee, and was won by W. Dougan and S. F. S her wed. This nroved such a- success that another was played on Dec. 27th for trophies presented by Messrs Whelan and F. Harford', being won by A. Stephens and A. Dee. On January 2nd yet another was played for trophies presented by W. J. Smith and -the club, artd was won by R. H. Aiton and S. Gaibraith. 'ln addition to the" pleasure

created for the members by these pairs games, the -committee laid aside a- portion of the entrance fees towards payment of painting tihe frame work of the windmill, and in this connection the club is greatly indebted to 'one of the members (Mr Galbraith) for his gratuitous services, in erecting the windinil-1. Peimaaifc Matches. —Six (pennant matches have been played with the N elcon Club", of which we were successful in winning two. Your committee are of opinion that in future contests- it would make the games more interesting if the whole of tie rinks played' on one pxeen alternately, "and recommend -that thw incoming Maftch Cbmmittecf should 'approach the Nelson Club to effect this change. Visit to Westport. —Thanks _ to the efforts of Sir J. E. Allen, two rinks of Maitai and Nelson players joruaTieyed "to Westport during the Christmas holidays, and had very enjoyable games with the Westport and Grey mo ut tn. clubs. Later on a visit was paid' to the Motueka Club, who returned l the compliment on race day. Easter Tournament.—The rsual three days' fixture arranged in conjunction with the Nelson Club was more largely attended than usual.. In addition to the local clubs, 25 visiting rinks from the following clubs took part:—Newtown:, Wellington, Thorndon, Haitaitai, Khandallah. Riversdale, Blenheim, Takaka, and! Motueka. Unfortunately Gocd Friday turned out very wet, and' as far as our green was concerned play had -to 'be abandoned. Saturday: improved; and Monday was a perfect day for ibowlin-g, and the games were well contested, and a most enjoyable time spent by all, if we may iud-ge by the eulogistic references made by the visitors, who ,to mark the meeting, nresented to each)-of -the local clubs aTi enlarged framed photograph ic group of the assembled' bowlers.' The usual- smoke concert took place on Saturday eveninnr. was weE' attended, and a very pleasant function.N.B.A. Tournarrient.—Owing to the annual tournament being held at Auckland', the club was only represented by one -rink, -consisting of W. Dougan. Yv. H. Simpson, G. SI. Simp son, and P. B. Lomax, who., although not successful in winning a prize, made a very good record. '

Membership.—This season has shown a large increase of members, all of whom are very keen on the game, and with every cihance of a good and improved green, it is •confidently expected- that the club will again receive a large accession of-membership. Finance. Your committee have been carefully husbanding the finances of the club, and the Treasurer, we have reason to believe, will be able to report a f>reat improvement in the condition of the funds. Your commttee wish to place on .record their appreciation of the valuable services rendered during; his two years' term of office of Mr Hockey, President, who has at all times been, untiring in his efforts for the welfare of th.e Club. "Kerr' 5 Buckles. —The thanks of the club are due to Mr X>. Ken - for his donation of four gold buckles for rink -competition. which take the place of the old B. and K. Buckles. The best thanks of the club are also

due to tli© various donors of trophies'; to tbe ladies who have so generously (riven and dispensed afternoon tea for pennant matches and during the Easter tournament; and the press for the very liberal way in which they have given the reports during- tbe season. The ihon. treasurer', (Mir J. E. Milner) presented the balance-sheet, which showed a profit of about £SO on the season's operations. The result was regarded as eminently satisfactory, and the statement was duly approved.

Pleasure was expressed at the financial result. The report and baJauce-sheet were adopted'. Trophies were presented to winners of the various competitions. Six active and two honorary members \Vere elected, and ; three resignations were received. Officers were elected as follows': — Patron : Dr. Wright (re-elected),; President, Mr C'. J. McEachen; vice-presi-dent, Mr W. A. Dee; hon. treasurer, Mr J. E. Milner (re-elected); hon. sec., Mr S. F. Sherwood (re-elected); trustees, Messrs W. A. Dee and G. M. Simpson (re-elected) ; auditor, Mr J. E. Allen ; committee (after a ballot). Messrs W. Frost, J. E. Allen, C. Whelan. J. McEachen, Frank Harford, W. Dougan, and W. Hockey. A very hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr W. Hookey, the retiring nresident, several members bearing testimony to the energy and unselfishness displayed by him during his two years' term..

A similar vote was passed to the-'Com-mittee.

In accordance with notice Mr J. E Milner moved and Mr C. Whelan seconded, an alteration in the (by-laws, to give the Mat-ph Committee power to alter the conditions of any competitions. The object was. to secure more play in full rink competitions by providing that each rink should meet every other rink in the competition. ' ' The motion was carried unanimously. After discussion it was resolved by 18 to 10 that the practice of providing alcoholic- liquor at pennant matches be discontinued, and' that members taking part in these matches be not asked to contribute towards procuring liquor. _ A number of trophies were promised for next season.

Votes of tihanks were passed" to the donors of trophies; the ladies who had provided' afternoon,.tea. the caretaker ; the Press; and' the Chairman.
