ENJOYABLE CELEBRATION.

The weather .proved! fine for Coronation Day. Nearly 90 children -assembled in the playground, being scholars o.f the Wa'befieM and Pig-eon Valley schools. They fell in and' rnarched 1 through the township i,a the following order : —Finst came the .boy carrying the Union Jack; then two boys carrying two New Zealand Ensigns; theni the boy carrying the Stars and Stripes, followed by- boy.s carrying the large sclwol banner; ali were adorned- with saslies, and' led by the headmaster, Mr. F. B. Peart. On re'turning a halt was made in front of the Post Office, where the Chairman of tlhe School Committee, presented each .child with a Coronation medal, after which Mr. Ja.irties Bruce -addressed] them on th'Q two flags, the Union Jack and the Stars and Stripes. He tpld them about 'the- Coronation Stone" -and 'historical ■facts relating to. former Sovereigns, and "The Abbey." The procession then- marched .back to the schools, wber.e two hymns, "New ■'Zealand. JMy Hoimeilariid," 1 and "The Kins; ! The King !" were sung; followed by addresses given by Mr. E. McPherson arid the headmaster, after which all sang "Gad Save the King," Miss L. P.eart pre. skiing ait the organ. Three cheers were .given for the King .and 'three for ' Queen Mary. Dinner having been preipared in the Technical School, all sat down and /did it justice, thanks to the ladies, Mesdames' E. McPherson, 'G. Johnson and Misses K. Bird, C. Martin, and Ij. Peart.

The .afternoon, was devoted to children's sports anid prizes, and .the youngsters had a Veally good 'day, «nd those who attended thoroughly eiijoy-efd- themselves, at the same time phowi.ng their 'loyalty. Messrs H. J. Harris, E.' Hodgson and E. McPher.son, a-lso gave a quantity of lollies for a scramble to the child,ran.

In the evening the Riverside T-eninis Club gaivo ,a dance, at which 40 couples •were 'present. A noticeable feature was the iil'umiiiaticars • outside by 'Mr. W. Fawcet.t.
