Mejnbeis of the country fun: brigades threaten to strike ill a body a protest against lack of proper equipment and the noii-iKiyment A-f r&muineration. Numbers already have resigned. The Secretary of the F:re Brigades Board declares that in more than 50 per cent, of tho country towns the brigades, with their present aipplianees, are absolutely utuible to cope with any serious emergency, and that the whole situation is a menace to life and property. He says that there is pressing need for the Government to take over and place the brigades on a proper l'oot'ing.
