THE PLAGUE.
PRECAUTIONS AT DUNEDIN. A CONFERENCE. (United Press Association.) DUNEDIN. Thursday. A conference between the representatives of the City Council, Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, Drainage Board, and the Health Department was held this afternoon to consider what steps shouldl be taken to prevent the introduction of plague into the city. In the course of a discussion the importance of a vigorous crusade against rates was emphasised also the need for a general cleaning up of the premises in the city arid suburbs. It was mentioned ' that a numlber of dilapidiated houses were standing, and that the City Council had met with several rebuffs in its efforts to have them demolished. It was decided that a house to house inspection) be put into operation as soo.ii as possible, the cost to be borne by the local bodies represented at the conference.
