A QUEENSLAND TRAGEDY.
DEATH SENTENCE COMMUTED. (Received April 21. 9.30 a.m) BRISBANE, Friday. The death sentence on Denton, for murder, has been commuted to life imprisonmnent. (A young man named W. Den.ton_was sentenced to death for the murder of -a fellow-workman, named George Kelly, at Jandaryan. on, October 17th. He struck Kelly over his head with a tomahawk. The jury recommended Denton to mercy on the ground that the crime was the result of temper and drink.)
