THE BIBLE IN THE SCHOOLS. WEEKLY* LESSONS. INCREASE OF INFANT PUPILS. (Usited PiiES3 Association.) TIMARU. Thursday. Arrangements have been- completed for ministers to give Bible lessons half an hour once a -week in eadh town school from 9 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. The explanation of the Bible by visiting; teachers will be such a°3 is necessary to make a passage cleai" to children. No sectarian teaching of any kind will be given. For the present year the lessons will be from the Gospel of Mark. Parents are to notify the headmasters if they object, and secular lessons will be provided for .such children instead. The Rev. M. Chanpie, Unitarian, is issuuwr reprint of a Sunday address against Bible lessons in schools- « The Tima.Tu South School opened a new infants' room- for 120 pupils last year. There are now 170 pupils, and a oanvas shed has been erected to accommodate the excess.
