BURNED TO DEATH IN" A WH ARE. REMAINS FOUND. TAUPO, Tuesday. . On. Saturday morning the mail driver from Taupo, whein passing Co-okson's stables, about sixteen miles away, discovered the remains of p.. whare occupied by the ostler, named Gordon, smouldering. On close investigation he found a portion of Gordon's body charred to a cinder. It is supposed that Gordon, while* 8 feeding his hox-ses in the early morning, noticed his whare on fire ,and, making in to save his effects, was overcome by the smoke, and perishe-d."" The deceased, it is believed, belongs to Wanganui.

An inquest was held to-day- on.the body of Samuel Munties ClapTiarn, "who met his death while bathing on the Marine Parade beach, on Monday afternoon. The medical evidence was to the effect that the primary cause of death was heart failure., owing to the shock of finding himself in trouble in the water, as he had not been in the water long enough to drown. Tho verdict was returned, that death had resulted from heart failure.
