The steamer Martos sank in two minutes, and 45 persons were drowned, including a mother and her three children, who were travelling in the aloon. and third-ciass passengers, principally fishermen. with their wives and children. The captain was a septuagenarian. He went down standing on the ■bridge. One survivor swam for an hoar, and was twice under ay a whirlpool. The Elsa saved Go persons.
