MERELY AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT.
THE ENGLISH LETTERS DISCOVERED IN INDIA. [Press Association—Copy-rige.x.| (Rec. August 18, 9.40 a.m.) LONDON, Wednesday. Mr Hillaire Belloc states that his letter merely acknowledged the receipt of one from an Indian, and he points out he is ignorant of Indian affairs. Mr Morell "Lupton states that he wrote to Krishna's son in reply to the latter'.* letter thanking him for speeches in the House of Commons sympathisiiicr with deportees. (A Calcutta cable received yesterday stated that the polic« raided the house of Wrishna Kilmar Mitter, an ex-depor-tee, and seized letters from Mr Morell Lupton and Sir Henry Cotton. exM's.P., and also examined letters from Messrs Keir Hardie and Hillaire Belloc, M's.P.)
