The "Daily Mail'" recently announced that at the request of Lord Robert-, the proprietors of that .journal have decided to inaugurate a competition for the miniature rifle clubs of the British Empire. The contest will be open to any team of Ken from any miniature rifle club in the British Empire aililiatcd to the •Society of Miniature Rifle Clubs, Queen Victoria Street.. E.G.. and will be shot on Lord Roberts' birthday, .September 30, each'.year.
Lord Roberts has issued an appeal to the miniature* rifle clubs of the Empire, in the course of which he say-:—''At present there are aliiliiated to the Society of Miniature Eifle OUibs about 2.">o'J clubs, representing a mem'bership of alxmt 2-10.-000. Great r>rogress has been made since the formation of flic Society in )]904; but much still remains to "be done. As an incentive to further sport the 'Daily Mail' has kindly offered to present each year for competition a f>o-guinea eup and silver ■commemorative medals, and I sincerely hope that every miniature rifle club at Home and abroad which is affiliated or can become affiliated to the Society of Miniature Rifle Ohrbs will make a special effort to enter a representative team.'' 'Secretaries of clubs and others interested in miniature rifle shooting •are requested to commnuicate with the organising secretary, the ''Daily ■Mail'" Miniature Clubs' Contest. 'Carmelite House, London, E.C. The conditions of the contest have been drawn up bv an advisory committee, of which Dord "Roberts is chairman The distance will lie 2:1 yards, and 20 shots will be fired—lo deliberate* and {0 in 90 seconds. Entries must be received not later than the first post on September Ist, 1910. To the team making the highest aggregate score a uO-guinea cup and ten silver commemorative medals will be presented. The team making the second highest aggregate score and' the oversea team, other than a winning team, making the highest aggregate score will hlm> receive silver medals.
