Sir,—Allow me to ask Mr. Thomas Neale how he is going to sugply those living on the hills with water when he has "repaired the dam, as he calls it? When the city was relying on this dam for its water supply these residents were many times short of water, for not with eta nding the fact that tihere were 90.000,000 gallons of water there, it failed to reach the higher levels, for the simple reason that it had been located 50 or more feet below the previous dam. By the bye, Mr. Neale calls, this dam the Piper dain. Now. as a .matter of fact, this dam was erected long before Mr. Piper came to Nelson. Had he give al this gentleman the credit for the construction of the upper weir he would have been doing him justice; but apparently this does not suit the occasion. Such tactics may be. "playing the game,'' but hardly •'playing the man." I am, etc., READER.
