The Aorere ■Sluicing Company took over the property of the Slate River Company (in liquidation), and ha s done a considerable amount of repairing. Tr commenced sluicing with six men towards the end of last year, with satisfactory results. The Paranara Hydraulic Sluicing and Mining Company has employed eleven men during the vear working three shifts, with satisfactory returns. The ground has proved to be payable, and the outldok of the company is promising. The Golden Block- mine ha s carried on its miningoperations during th e year with satis"factory results, and lias paid a fair amount in dividends.
