STATE OF PARTIES.
LABOUR GAINS. IN ALL THE STATES[Press Association— Copyright.] SYDNEY, Sunday. In the last Federal House of Representatives the Fusionists held 17 seats for Victoria ; Labour 4; and Independent 1. In the new House, as a result of the lections it is represented by 11 Fusionists; 10 Labour members; and one Independent. South Australia's representation remains' unchanged, viz., 4 Labour and 3 Fusionists. Queensland has exchanged five Fusionists and four Labour members for three Fusionists and six Labour representatives. Wstralia, which previously returned three Fusionists and two Labourites, now has 2 Fusionists and three Labour members. Tasmania changed from four Fusionists and one Labourite to two Fusionists and three Labourite*. "The Times" and the "Economist," dealing with the Australian elections, have friendly and appreciative 'leaders on Mr Fisher's programme.
LABOUR IN THE SENATE. TWENTY THREE TO THIRTEEN. (Rec. 8.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, Friday. Queensland has moved into line with the other States in placing three Labour Senators ahed. On the present showing Labour has 23 seats in the Senate to 13 held by the Fusionists. Mr Fisher, Leader of the Labour Party, returned to Brisbane on Saturday. A great gathering at the station gave him an enthusiastic reception. He leaves for Melbourne on Thursday.
LATEST RETURNS. THE VOTING ANALYSED. SYDNEY, Monday. The returns of the voting for the House of Representatives are practically complete. The total number on the rolls was 2,156,339, and the votes cast, not including informal, which weie comparatively heavy, numbered 1,276,924, Labour scoring 633,382, the Fusionisst 577,104, and the Independents 66,-448. The percentage of votes cast was 58.75, compared with 51.48, at the 1906 election. In all States, excepting Tasmania, where there was a slight decrease. the percentage substantially increased, particularly in West Australia.
