Lieut. Filchner, interviewed, said he did not wish to jump the claims of the A,ii!glo-American Antarctic expedition, and he would leave the Pole to his rivals. Lieut. Filchner's object is to verify the theory that the Antarctic land consists of two islands divided by an arm of the sea. THE SCOTT EXPEDIION. (Received March 14, 10.40 a.m.) LONDON, Sunday. Captain Scott has bought at Christiania sixty sledges for use in his Antarctic expedition and fifty pairs of snowshoes (ski).
