The motor of the Siemens-Schuckerts biplane, carrying an engineer and two passengers, failed at the height of 50ft at Bomstedterfed. A side wind simultaneously struck the machine, which turned a somersault and fell on the occupants. One of the engineer's thighs was fractured, and his companions were seriously injured.
