! NELSON HOCKEY ASSOCIATION. • A meeting of the Nelson Hockey Association was held at the Camera Club 1 Rooms Hardy-street, last night. There was a good attendance of delegates. Correspondence was read and dealt with, and other business was transacted. Before the meeting . adjourned, Mr G. Stewart spoke of the valuable work rendered by the hon. secretary (Mr H. i 3avalgel- during the .past) season; arid moved a resolution that Mr Savage be accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Several other delegates voiced the same Views; and the motion was carried with much applause.
SIX-A-SIDE MATCH A six-a-side match was played f,b the Botanies yesterday between the town and -country members of the Wakatu Club. After a keen game, ihe country representatives won by 2 goals to nil. Both scores were obtained by Miss E. Langridge. The losers will have to "stand" afternoon tea.- Mr Hurat refeneed.
The discovery of the North Pole marks an epoch in scientific research, and may mean a great deal tfc scientists; and it is a pity there should be any wrangling as to whom the honour is due. Mrs Mumbles says to her husband:' "I don't believe that either Cook or Peary discovered the Pole, for the reason that there aint no Pole there; I could never see 'one on the map."
