Commercial Intelligence Committee of the Canadian Manufacturers' Association. leports that Germany is anxious for a. trade treaty, but that the general feeling of manufacturers does not favour a> remission of the Customs surtax . The Association advocates a permanent Tariff Commission. Mr G. P. Graham, Canadian Minister of Public Works, speaking at the annual banquet of the Association, and referring to the American tariff, recommended a dignified' attitude. He said that new fields for Canadian enterprise had been found before, and could 1 be found again. Canadian policy was to continue preference to the Motherland.
