AUCKLAND, Friday.
The New Zealand golf championship meeting at Cornwall Park links advanced another step to-day, when the third round and semi-finals ot the amateur championship were played. Some very exciting matches took pface, notably that between J. C. Burns and W. B. Colbeek, both of Auckland. In tlie semi-final match it was not won until two extra rounds were played. The general impression is that Mr Do'iun will beat Sir Burns in the final o] the amateur championship to-morrow. Messrs J. A. Clements, of Wanganui . and F. G. Hood, of Auckland, will £rt in the final of the professional championship to-morrow. A driving competition was held today, and was won by C. E. Cusaes. who drove the fyall 255 yards. i The approaching and putting competition was won by Mr E. D. Gillies, 3"up and 2 to play, , The semi-final resulted : — A. Duncan beat J. C. Bidwell 3 up and 2 to play : J. C. Burns beat \y. B. Colbeek, 1 Tip at the 20tli hole ; Messrs Duncan and Burns meet in the finals. MELBOURNE, Friday. The ladies' golf championship was won by Mrs Gatehouse (Victoria), Miss P,arbury (N.S.W.), being second.
