MELBOURNE, Friday. In the State Assembly the Women's Protection and Legitimation of Children's Bill, containing drastic provisions, was thrown out at the second reading, by 25 to 24. The Premier said some of the methods proposed could not recommend themselves to reasonable men, *ffhi]« W regard' to legitimation, it was proposed to take away safeguards to morality and break down the marriage ties.
